Well you can’t just know 2+2 = 4! You have to know the black man who figured out that 2+2 = 4. Because if a white man figured it out your eyes might be lying to you when you have two things and add two more things to it.

sam frankss yes I get touchy-feely when my son learns new things because I’m his mother. I pay his teacher to teach him new things. Like math. If his teacher fails at that I’m not happy. I’m not asking my kids math teacher to teach him history I’m asking them to teach him math. If they can’t be bothered to do that they can’t be my sons math teacher. It’s because I love my son that I want him to learn math.

Come on don’t you want the contractor who took this woman’s class to build your house? I mean yea he doesn’t know how to do math so your house is going to crumble in on itself but he does know the BLACK guy who figured out 2+2 = 4.

A lot of you don’t seem to understand that when most people say “do math” they mean get the correct answer. You can visualize 2+2, you can use your fingers to count 2+2, you can do it in your head. But if you get anything other than 4 you didn’t “do math” right. THAT’S the point.

We want to help disadvantaged people by instead of just blatantly teaching them math, conflating math with history. We don’t think disadvantaged people (read brown people) know when to use math so we want to teach them that too. Math is hard and that makes it discriminatory. Even if plenty of white people also hate it because it’s hard. How racist are these people? She doesn’t want to teach children there’s only one correct way to do math when there IS only one correct way to do math. That’s the beauty of math. It is black and white. Either you did the equation correctly and got the correct outcome or you didn’t. So she wants to lie to children. She wants to confuse growing minds. She’s a math and history teacher. Therefore she knows the two subjects are separate. How about she teach history in her history class and math in her math class? If the standard way of teaching multiplication has a lot of steps how does it take less paper then the more innovative less complicated way? And does this woman really think paper was a hot commodity when she was a child? Is she 150 years old? Did the leader of a political movement to politicize math just say she doesn’t want to politicize math? Really?
