No it's not malice it's greed. They made an extra five grand off this guy so he could change his tail light. That's why they did it.

Maybe all of that happens but planned ups lessons already existed. You know the thing keeping your roomlit? When it was originally invented it lasted 10 years. No manufacturer would make it cuz they wouldn't be able to make a profit off of it. So they created the filament to expire much more quickly so that people would have to buy light bulbs more often giving the manufacturer reason to produce them. This wasn't Ford's doing this was GE.

@bac1308 without planned obsolescence we wouldn't have literally any of the technology we do now. The simple light bulb required planned obsolescence to be manufactured in the first place. The very first step to modern technology required planned obsolescence to exist. You all forget that businesses exist to make a profit. If they can't make a profit they won't make a product. If they don't make a product you can't buy and use it. If a manufacturer doesn't make a light bulb you don't have light in your house. And if they can't make up profit off of that light bulb they're not going to make it.

@reubensandwich9249 well if you had spent about 5 seconds Google searching this you would have found out that it's because these light bulbs were made by a company that went out of business shortly after creating this light bulb. Only a few of them exist. That's why there's only one left. The rest probably broke being made of glass and all. You're dumb and lazy. Congratulations on telling the entire world how stupid and lazy you are!
