  1. England does not have squatters rights. And the reason the US has squatters rights is not because we believe people deserve shelter. It's because for the first hundred or so years of our existence we were a wide open space and if you stumbled upon an abandoned home and took care of it for about a decade it became yours. It did not automatically become yours and it had nothing to do with being a tenant.
