Money. And you're right it should go back because it's a contract. It's a gift in contemplation. If she doesn't follow through at the wedding he gets the ring back.

Well the kids are theirs too. The ring isn't until they marry you.

You mean engagement ring. The wedding ring belongs to the woman cuz it's given on the wedding day. That is just a straight-up gift. When the marriage ends she gets to keep it.

@shellyvonschtupp8618 then she should have made sure the wedding happened before that time was over. Women are not children. Stop infantilizing us. If she wanted to get married within those 3 years she should have made sure that happened. She's a fully grown ass adult. And if she's the one taking contraception it's on her that she didn't get pregnant whether or not she was married. An engagement ring and a wedding ring is about a marriage not children.

@shellyvonschtupp8618 it legitimately doesn't matter. Either one can end the relationship at any time and the engagement ring is returned to the man because the wedding didn't happen. The contract is that they'll get married. That's it. If they don't get married he gets the ring back. Stop trying to expand it to other things when that's not what the contract is. Never has been never will be. And women wonder why men are sick and tired of our shit.

@timgersh6787 context doesn't matter. An engagement ring is a gift in contemplation if no wedding happens the ring goes back to The giver. It's a physical manifestation of a verbal contract. When the contract is broken the ring is returned. There's been precedence set for years now!

So years of precedent out the window because a female judge wishes she could have kept an engagement ring when she broke an engagement? An engagement ring is a gift and contemplation. If the wedding doesn't happen the engagement ring belongs to the person who gave it. Dear God we live in fucking clown World! Also my suggestion to the groom is appeal appeal appeal appeal! As I said there are years of precedent set on this!

@silvercrownt verbal contracts are legally binding contracts dummy.

@silvercrownt you mean you live in the United States? Because verbal contracts are legally binding in all 50 states. All of them do if someone gives an engagement ring. Because that's the verbal contract. How dumb are you?
