@MarkYeung1 Throughout thousands of years China has had frequent major famines caused by bad weather and pestilence, resulted in tens of millions of deaths, if not for the communists the famines during their period could have been worst. In 1840's soon after the First Opium War, the British extorted so much money from the Qing government that China had no more money to manage farming and fight pestilence, serious food shortage as a result, tens of millions of Chinese people died
