@rpg1663 The difference is most due to currency exchange, but if you compare the cost of a meal or a month of rent for an apartment in China and USA then you can see the cost of living is many times higher in USA, so a US dollar buys very little in USA, whereas its currency exchange equivalent to China RMB can buy more in China, this means US dollar has lower buying power in USA, but it has more buying power only when it is used in poorer countries due to currency exchange. An average one-month wage in China can pay for one month rent for an apartment and 3 restaurant meals daily, but is difficult in USA due to high housing rent and restaurant meal prices.

@joshlewis575 Evergrande is a private business, while the highspeed rails are government's. Evergrande's projects are all real but they mismanaged the finance so they run into cash problem. Evergrande has more real estate assets than liabilities, it is waiting for the right time to liquidate its assets.
