  1. Ah, Omar Bradley. Revered by contemporary writers of history as "The Soldiers General", a leader who cared about his men. While Patton was vilified for being too tough on his men. Yet while Patton was able to feeeze the Germans with essentially no troops prior to D-Day, Bradley's kinder use of the troops under his command in the prior Battle of Hürtgen Forest, and leading up to the Battle of the Bulge tends to get glossed over. (Disclaimer: My dad served in the 3rd Army, and he would never say a bad word about Patton".)
