I've got an old Chilton manual, and it describes in typical detail how to rebuild the engine, but when you get to the section on the MFI, there is basically a small paragraph that says "Here be dragons". Nowadays you can buy the factory manuals along with "Check, Measure, Adjust" which describe in detail how to tune and adjusts the system. There is also a ton of knowledge on forums like Pelican Parts. Also companies like Eurometrix and PMO can help with throttle bodies and hardware. Finally, having access to a dyno helps for the final set-up.

  2. II believe that the Mercedes 300 CSL was one of the first production cars with fuel injection -- a mechanical direct injection system no less. It came out maybe a year or so after the Corvette, but the system was in another league when it came to performance.

  3. I think by '69 the standard wheel was a big wheel with a thin black plastic rim. I believe the wood wheels were phased out (at least as standard) around '67, or maybe '68.

  6. 986 Boxsters are the answer to your question. Just like a 911, but less so. They don't have as drastic of a transition from understeer to oversteer (i.e. as much of a rear weight bias), they don't have quite as much HP, Their top speed is a little less and they cost about half as much as a 996 911. Basically 90% of the qualities at half the price. On the other hand a Boxster is a better convertable than any 911, and some Boxsters come with hardtops. Boxsters with tiptronic automatics usually are cheaper too! Such a deal!

  7. I've learned to just open the steering a bit if you have to back off the throttle mid-corner. But slow-in/fast-out trumps everything else.
