Just came back from 4-days with a rental K5, over city, highway and even some canyon roads, but just normal driving as opposed to "canyon runs". All of the highlights she mentioned - style, interior room, interior materials and finish and safety features. All were great although I turned off most of the 'nannies'. Like most long wheelbase FWD sedans, the car understeers -- a lot. Even in sport mode it was very noticable, especially on tight turns and sweepers. Combined with the total absence of feel in the steering and it was scary. 100% of your attention was required on the highway because there were no tactile queues through the steering wheel if the steering was on center or not. On turns the steering wheel was just a pointing device with zero feel for the tire response. It was like driving an early video game. Compared to the handling of an Optima I had rented in the past, the driving experience was a big step back. Maybe if you are just going to cruise around with all of the nannies on you won't care. But if you want a nice driving car with all of the features mentioned above, I suggest test driving the competition before plunking down a down payment for a K6.
