  1. It's funny how sometimes the Western Allies forget that there was an Eastern Front in WWI, and it was also fought very much like this. Maybe even more so than the Western Front which was mentioned since there was still maneuvering space on the Eastern front in 1915 -1917. The large distances prevented a single connected trench system from being constructed. Instead, there were positions very much like these scattered across the battlefield. This is the 3rd time that the Ukraine has had to endure this suffering in the last 110 years.
