  1. I was in Shanghai in July. Spoke to a taxi driver who remarked on how few foreigners there were compared with last year. Going through Hengzhou and Nanjing, I was seeing one or two Europeans a day. Leaving from Shanghai, the domestic terminal (we could see it from the international waiting area) seemed lively enough, but the international was a ghost town.
