  1. How horrifying it must have been for the pretty Olive to be held down and tattooed. On her FACE. If she didn't resist, she was likely terrified of what might happen to her if she did. I wouldn't want that in this accepting day & age, and back then, it must have been so very traumatic. And then there's all the other adjustments she was forced to make.
