@brendagroff8478 Now THAT is an excellent point. Chris Rock really could sue the Oscars, who have no clue what to do about an assault after 94 years of Oscars. People watch the Oscars much less. Perhaps it's time to end the Oscars.

It was sickening... He assaults Chris Rock and the awards show just went on like nothing happened. Will Smith should have been escorted out, and I say this as a fan of Smiths. But I am also a Chris Rock fan. Even if Chris Rock chose not to press charges, the Oscars had a responsibility to remove Will Smith from the premises. And after 94 years of Oscars, they had NO CLUE how to handle this??

@theempresss2020 After 94 years of Oscars they had no plan?

@AJ XOXO He's the Will Smith that people just might start walking away from, now that we know we "misunderstood" who we thought he was. Time will tell, but he should have been escorted out. Period. Just because Chris Rock may or may not choose to press charges, it was still the responsibility of the Oscars to escort someone who thinks he has the right to just walk up onstage and assault the person the Oscars hired to represent them.

@tassiespirit Every person who ever was a target of a stand-up comedian's joke is related to someone. Do we have to now get rid of all stand up comedy because it might hurt someone's feelings? Chris Rock's joke was nowhere near as acid as some of the past jokes told on Oscar night by comedians chosen by the Oscars.

@anonymouslakernerd7214 Right. If Jada didn't want people to know her private business, she could have worn a wig. Instead she burned her hair off her head by repeatedly dyeing it blond.

@CubanGirl-oo4pg The Oscars hired Chris Rock. They owe it to the comedian they hired to do what they are well aware that he does to come down on Will Smith. If "being popular" lets criminal behavior go unpunished, then we're in serious trouble. Just ask those convicted of assault what happened to them.

@indellindel9334 Assault is still assault and it is a crime. Even if Chris Rock chooses to not bring charges, Will Smith needed to be removed and it was the Oscars responsibility to execute that task.

@l.j.galbreath3720 But it is.

@mattboland5221 Well-stated!! I have watched a great many of those roasts, and what you say is the truth.
