  1. I use an air-arc torch for such cracks and just do final cleaning with grinders, WAY too much grinding here. Arc torch would do all that in 10 minutes. If 7018 works for you it's fine but I almost always use 11018 for any higher strength heavy equipment steels, which is most of the machine. T-1 (A-514) or similar is very common and considerably higher yield and ultimate strength than 7018. Good vid with useful info.
