Henry Kissinger involvement would trip my radar.

***** There are a lot of options on the market long before the Powerwall, but somehow Elon get's all the attention and free advertising. :-) He's a very adept self promoter.

Martin Andreas Kruse It's hard to say what all those "orders" are worth since there is no commitment being made, it's just an expression of interest really. I would expect most of them won't translate to sales but then others will make actual purchases. For most applications there are much more cost effective solutions then the Powerwall, natgas backup generators for example. It's great to see another option on the market and no doubt the price will come down, it needs to be about one third current price to be widely attractive to those who are concerned about costs. (according to those who have run the numbers, but it varies widely depending on your circumstances) And with the Giga factory the price of batteries may well drop significantly and quickly.

Mike Benner By that measure perhaps but batteries are not "there" yet in general except for special circumstances. I do expect to one day rely on solar and batts for my home however and expect the options to get more attractive every year.

Mike Benner Yes I'm happy to see it on the market. I hope it succeeds and rapidly falls in price.

David Handley I'm sure he will call if he sees your offer. Hahaha

"'Never quit looking over your shoulder.'" ....Steve Jobs might have said.

Unfortunately other ways of building individual wealth are few, especially the stock market is not viable for Chinese.

beanny39 In the US we already transfer power long distances and the average loss from source to consumer is about 10%, not a deal breaker. As options get better and cheaper most houses in the US should produce at least as much as they consume just from their own roof not counting EVs which may double or triple what a house otherwise uses, in sunny areas even that should be available from the roof alone at current panel efficiencies which could double over time. I believe we will see the cheapest electric in history within a decade extrapolating from gains of the previous couple decades.

***** I don't think the power companies would have a chance in hell of getting away with that. People would rightly be out in the streets protesting. I don't see how the utilities are going to avoid an inevitable slow death spiral.

***** Okiehoma would be on the top of the short list for that sort of thing. Thanks for the info.

Great to see this on the market but it's a long way from cost effective at this point for the vast majority of us. Elon admits as much but points out--"That doesn't mean people won't buy it." Hopefully it won't take too many years before the price drops to about one third the current price, then it will be competitive.

That's Communism, the ultimate monopoly doesn't give a crap about you and the individual is sacrificed on the alter of "the greater good" as determined by the good of those in power. Your body--NOT yours, you own nothing and will be happy.

SO...Did Steve Jobs bang her or not??

I don't believe the "$45/hr to $1/hr" 2:50 Something is missing in those numbers.

The roadster is cool and it may be important for cash generation for Tesla but it's trivial in the bigger picture, the semi is the potential game changer. Why do they even bother quoting the semi performance unloaded??

Both sad, predictable and amusing from a distance. Why keep paying for a farce, a fake building meant to collapse under it's own weight? Y'all were scammed, cut your losses, they seem to agree.
1
Dave Cruickshank No doubt about that except "deserve" is determined by the market place, not collective judgement or otherwise. And some of the key mistakes were out of arrogance, not likely to be repeated by other manufacturers. The model 3 is way ahead in terms of batt tech and electronics but fell flat on structural/manufacturing details because they failed to use well developed production and design methods for autos.

One step at a time, I always figured aircraft would be the LAST to go electric, fascinating even if only for an hour flight time. Ground vehicles are much easier to transform.

Mindless envy and losers mired in endless self inflicted hand to mouth, rat race living, due to their perpetual poverty mentality.

Evelyn 21 y.o - check my vidéó Exactly what are you talking about? No one is a slave there. Who are YOU to say it's not the best option they have? The fact they work there more than a month tells the story, and anyone can create there own job or get a better one if they are worth a damn to start with. How much do you pay your thousands of employees?

Forgotten about "competition" by now, real comp will come from China.
