@martincummins3731 Yeah good headlines sell. It could be 'eminent', we don't know, as serious as it is, a few centuries may qualify for that word? By then we should be able to have massive orbiting mirrors to add sunlight, or whatever.
The additional CO2 is probably a very small extra safety margin against the mass plant extinction (end of everything good on Earth) you mentioned, since oceans hold 40X more CO2 than atmosphere, so divide the CO2 delta by 40ish? Colder oceans will absorb what they can.
I do not think extra CO2 will prevent next glacial max, say we top out at 600 or 800ppm, but no one knows. Climate models don't work. Just my guess based on minor roll CO2, at these levels, plays on climate.
Perhaps we will have a global push to burn more fossil fuels later this century. :D) We have plenty left to do so.
