Bats are incredible wonderful animals in many of their iterations (not familiar w many of them). Had a spec built bat house 'properly mounted' for decade and half and only wasps took up residence.

@starrchine All I can say is they may have standards that we don't fully grasp. Some put bat guano underneath but that seems a long shot, easy enough to do tho at least if the fertilizers one can buy would do the trick. May try that. If when they occupied it was planning on putting a catch tray below to harvest guano. I have a couple ideas on improvements if I get around to it. Mainly to add a sheet metal extra layer as thermal insulation, just an air gap but spaced such that they could nest in it too. That should reduce hot summer day temp fluctuations tho it's mostly in the shade already. Sheet metal would also give extra security against rodent ingress tho only squirrels currently would almost ever be near it and has smooth steel guard around sides and below access bottom that no rodent could climb on.
