Comments by "Bo McGillacutty" (@Mrbfgray) on "Musk's got 'a pass' after bombshell tweets: Sam Zell" video.
That's funny because that's exactly the same bullshit the Tesla cult folks use in reference to Big Bad Oil interests supposedly suppressing alternatives.

svetarocks Love Elon and the Musk Mission but NO CEO can get away with saying "Funding Secured" for a supposed going private scenario when it wasn't, that's NOT OK for a CEO of a public company. There exist strict rules for crucial reasons and he apparently violated at least several of them in material ways. The case against him seems solid unfortunately, and mostly based on his own words, it's going to be rough for Elon and Tesla for a while and his days as Chairman or any higher position maybe numbered...but he can remain as the product/visionary that he has always excelled at, he wasn't that good a CEO anyway so Tesla and TSLA may do better long term. Meanwhile I wish I had sold my tiny position in TSLA midday yesterday as I almost did. (darn it!)

Poj Dia Vaj There exist strict rules for publicly traded companies, these rules are essential to make markets workable. I'm a huge Musk fan but he fucked up by claiming "funding secured" when it wasn't. NO CEO could or should get away with that.

Time to check your knee jerk presuppositions now since Zell and YOU both look like damned fools?

Not above the law obviously, what's you evidence for the "pothead" claim?

After the trillions in tax dollars to subsidize fossil fuels are "paid back" by auto and energy companies? I'm all for it. Tesla paid the loan back with profits to taxpayers early and the subsidies on individual cars is running out even though it never came close to leveling the playing field with heavily subsidized ICE cars.

You don't have a clue.

Igal Avraham Javdanfar How is it "rigged"?? What's the mechanism, how does that happen??? Do you know ANYTHING about stocks and markets? AMZN has the valuation it has because of it's massive profit POTENTIAL, growth and cash cows such as web services. BTW--the price per share has NOTHING TO DO WITH VALUATION, nothing.

Yup. And this was lightning speed action for the SEC. Why would Zell jump the gun like that? He must have a personal vendetta or he doesn't know what he's talking about, this is very fast action by SEC standards.

Like what?

That doesn't remotely add up to Enron, it adds up to Amazon or Netflix possibly but it's not an outright fraud.

Drogo Baggins I agree that city to city rockets are a bad joke but I don't know how you call it fraud since Space X is private, he's not benefiting by fooling anyone, same goes for tunnels (which I think he is right about over the long term) and he has little to do with Hyperloop which has potential but more hype than loop. Zero emissions AT THE SOURCE, everyone understands that the source needs to move away from fossils, in any case EVs are in the neighborhood of 100 mpg equivalent and solar is on a long term, multi-decade decline in price per watt which can continue for the foreseeable future. With steady decline in costs of both batteries and solar it's entirely possible to power the entire USA on that alone, just a small chunk of Nevada, a BIG deal but doable in the near future but certainly not necessary as many other options will fill in. Solar is poised to become the cheapest electric in history....if you don't understand that then you are simply out of touch with the current (pun unintended) circumstances. Take a look at the Australian and other 'giant' batteries, of course only time will tell for certain if they pay off but there is a start.

You may not have the interest or time for this but here is a decent current take on the other side, the bull argument plus some general investing wisdom: "Watch CNBC's full interview with Ron Baron" (NOTE: I don't have a financial stake in Tesla, it's too hard for me right now, so clearly I'm not entirely convinced by Ron but I tune into interesting perspectives on all sides)
