@TheWormzerjr "SOON", we've been hearing that for 2000 yr.s and counting and most of history was far tougher than today in the West. Get a grip on reality.

Slavery? Apparently you want to enslave others so you don't have to struggle to take care of yourself like the rest of us. Reality check!--life requires WORK....always did. We don't owe you your existence that's your minimum responsibility. If that's not your thing then go out in woods and live off the land just like our recent ancestors always did, some call that recreation but it's not easy. An easy life never was possible why would it be now? You can call that ultimate freedom "Slavery to Nature" since you don't know what slavery is.

@edwardhill7045 Your Goddamned GOD created everything. All powerful = ALL RESPONSIBLE.

Rata 4U Somebody needed to say it. Well done and well spoken.

@TheWormzerjr Our prayers or not she will never know the difference, utterly meaningless, just your way of avoiding personal responsibility, nothing fails like prayer nor succeeds like WORK.

WOW! Since when in the last 200,000 yr.s has life been possible without work?? And this is news to you?
2
@GodlessPeaceSign GROW UP you entitled child. Since when was life a given just because you were born? Did Mommy tell you that?
2
@JaesNSC A lot of things in life require those attributes. Since when was life guaranteed or easy?

@edwardhill7045 COOL. Then I'm good to go to Happy Forever Land...a place where NOTHING, nothing ever happens. No wonder no one is in a hurry to get there, hmmm? Boring as hell, yes hell is also boring.

Seriously? She can drop out of that hole and walk away anytime she wants. Get a clue.

They need to start charging them RENT!

"Working just to live"---HELLO! Since when did life not require effort, struggle and self discipline--aka., WORK?? Grow up and take care of yourself.

They should pay TRIPLE RENT for the inside of bridge vs. under it.

@bookcadenb4584 RIGHT. We are all "slaves" to the laws of nature. See where you are when civilization ends and you are slave to your need of food, water, shelter and self protection from predators just as we have been since the beginning of animals. Then you can whine and cry at who? God? Physics? GROW UP.

@bookcadenb4584 You are FREE to go into any wilderness in the Western world and live off the land, get yourself lost out there and fend for yourself and only yourself...or bring some friends along with you. The options and locations are endless as long as your not in jail. What else could you want? Or if that sounds like "slavery to the laws of nature" (not sure who your going to whine to about that) and you happen to be American--you can create your own job. I didn't like the fact that I was caring several worthless union "workers" on my shoulders when I first started working in heavy industry at 17. Why shouldn't I make several times as much on my own I thought? So I saved every penny, invested every spare minute and money into my abilities and equipment, launched my OWN biz by the time I was 20 and never looked back. I had no assurance of success, no TV, no toys nor luxuries for several yr.s until skills significantly upgraded and established...THEN I could began to think about nicer things and activities. Sure I still have to pay taxes and some of that is flushed down the toilet or works against me but I use the roads and infrastructure, etc. I have a say in how or even if I'm taxed, a historically unique situation. I largely set my own hr.s and my wages are between me and my customers....pretty decent situation, if I want to bust my ass I can make a small fortune. Far better than any other time or place in history as flawed as it is. And yes--we have it easy by any realistic informed measure.

@bookcadenb4584 Have you never heard of hermits who lived for decades or half a century completely detached from civilization? It's not hard to lose yourself in the wilderness where no one will know or care what you are doing unless you have shot a cop and they are determined to get you, and even then some have remained lose for yr.s. Quit being lazy and making excuses and exercise your freedom. There are tribes in the Amazon jungle that have never been contacted by civilization and wouldn't even be know about if not for their huts in clearings seen from the air, if they wanted to be out of sight no one would know they are there. Some Asian jungles have never been penetrated, Northern Canada and much of Alaska you can easily be entirely alone, thousands of islands in the middle of the ocean are unoccupied by humans....on and on. You are a slave to your own failure to take responsibility for yourself. Quit making excuses and embrace the effort necessary to advance your life. Do you really think there was ever a freer time or place on Earth??

What are you waiting for?

@Corey-gb1rx We have a word for thought is called thought it adds no value to relabel it as "prayer".

@MassLox When you are completely detached from civilization there are no laws, it's not hard to get there it's only hard to exist there especially if your a city boy with no wilderness survival skills and no work ethics.

@MassLox When I'm ready I'll definitely go off the grid, see if they can stop me. Some laws were meant to be broken. How did I attack homeless ppl?? I'm simply attempting a reality check on those who make excuses for their circumstances and compare modern day living to slavery which is absurd. What I'm getting from many is excuses for their lack of success or happiness. NEVER in history have things been remotely perfect let alone fair, far less so than today in almost every instance yet that didn't keep a good man down and still doesn't. How about focusing on all the amazing things that we have simply been granted? All the inventions and infrastructure none of which we had to accomplish ourselves we were just born into it. And yes our freedom that you seem to take for granted and pretend it's not really that. Many had to crawl thru the mud over rotting bodies and die to get what we have and it's a hell of a lot better than what THEY ever had.

@MassLox Non of us are immune to various addictions nor homelessness and I have compassion for anyone who isn't evil, which is most ppl. But handing a drug addict money or making his life easier isn't usually helping them. More than happy to give them my leftovers from a nice restaurant say, or some surplus fruit, most appreciate it. NO not all homeless are addicts but most are. I have given money to some, food to others, job hunting tips to a few, depending on the individual. I've even paid for their cigarettes or a beer a few times just because they were honest and likable . I always attempt to respectfully make eye contact and offer common greetings--sounds trivial but they feel invisible and some simple engagement can mean a lot. I know how that feels. We can all start by simply treating them like anyone else. There are no easy or simple solutions ultimately. Cheap or free housing, free everything WILL NOT WORK. I don't have any bullet proof answers to the problem and no one else does either. It's a proper discussion to have and partial solutions are possible.
