Nothing should be mandated and EVs aren't in any significate way. The thought drives legit vitriol, but it is what it is and that's a brilliant piece of work. (((Elon also doesn't support subsidies let alone mandates)))

@johnm5714 Do you babysit your current truck overnight? Leaving it plugged in while U sleep isn't a distraction, few bucks of electric saves trip to gas station and $100. Do U fret over charging a phone?

You will after your neighbors save enough on fuel to build a 2nd house and U finally try one and realize it just better in most every way.

How many miles do U need per day? Few bucks of electric overnight plugged in at home gives another 200 plus miles. On road trips, say across Canada, U need 30 minutes every 200 miles, time to pee, eat and walk the dogs/kids.

@wilhoroshak6253 2 hours? 30 minutes is closer to reality and it's decreasing every yr. U need not babysit charging, plug in walk away and do whatever, meal, walk the dog, pee. Plus there's no friction in the process, no card swipe or cash at the counter, just plug in and it's done. (using a Supercharger) Naturally most folks most of the time never visit a public station, just charge overnight at home. Not saying available options for BEV tow rig meet your needs just yet, likely not, but it's not ridiculously impractical as U present.
