  1. In part a poor choice of curriculums to pursue. Engineering for example, nothing to do with pointless memorization, all about understanding concepts and developing analytical skills. All for doing that on one's own if they are capable, I don't think I'd realistically have learned higher math and physics without deadlines and external applied stress.
