  1. I've paid closer to a grand for custom fit Westcos with steel toe, extra toe cap, internal leather liner, and most crucially, Kevlar stitching. (welder) At that rate, with one, half-original price rebuild/resole, I figure they cost about $200 per yr, not so bad. I've seen guys go thru several pairs of cheap boots per yr, just the shopping cost and failure rate dissuades me from that approach.
