Da Lat Exactly the same for Russian conscripts right now. Do you respect more those fleeing Russia or mindlessly joining the immoral invasion of Ukraine to kill civilians? On one hand, abandon your entire life, on the other hand just go with it, do as your told and preserve peer and nationalism status.

@abelis644 Yeah it's all horrible. Should have left the country, similar to the US in Vietnam, for many the most courageous thing to do was flee to Canada. Pretty sure my oldest bro was thinking that but he missed the draft by a few yrs fortunately, he was also exceptionally aware for his age.

Da Lat You think it's easy to give up your family, country and everything you know for principles? There was no expectation to being able to return. What would YOU do and why? Go slaughter innocent women, children and babies and be embraced by your nation or DO THE RIGHT THING and leave? As it turned out you returned NOT a hero but a broken man spit on at the airport.
