@jonathonhancock575 For what?
1
Some of these rigs (Toy 4:42, 5:01) are too hideous to consider. 😄 Yeah they are good but Good GRIEF.
1
National new truck destruction derbies would be the way to go here, charge $15 per spectator.
1
@michaeln4018 I bought a new '96 Chevy in late '97 that had been on the lot 18 months or so. Got a very good price.
1
Buy used.

So now we are down to the Big Two, soon enough we'll be down to the Big One--Tesla.
1
@unclemonster48 In a way. I liken it to Amazon vs Sears, Montgomery Wards plus a few others. Creative destruction. But Tesla was started to just kick the legacies into gear (actually beyond gears), T wasn't expected to exist by now but instead show the way before it failed. But then Elon never gives up no matter how terrible the odds.
1
@unclemonster48 Disruption almost always comes from outside established big business, Xerox invented the computer mouse but it took little upstart Apple to capitalize on it. Kodak was early into digital photography but didn't want to disrupt it's lucrative film biz. GM had a well loved short range EV back in the 1990's but didn't pursue it, then they all laughed at tiny Tesla and the rest is mostly history. Misaligned corporate reward structure a big part of problem, Wall St. focus on short range profits and C-suite rewarded whether they run biz into the ground or not. Elon was paid ZERO unless a series of impossible targets were achieved.

Have you penciled out the price of horse maintenance? 😉

5:15 damn those grills are ridiculous and hideous. Big carp with mouth open.
1
Shelby way to hideous to consider for FREE.

@zarroth Next revolution huh, to NeoMarxism, NeoCons?? What's the constitution look like, not likely as good as the one we have which exists no where else. NOT too big to fail comes from being small and weak, and quit dodging personal responsibility, before a politician can be bought he must be elected, so get active and let 'em know what basis you vote on. Pols always follow their constituencies, or the noisiest among them.
1
@zarroth I think it's likely the Big 3 will be reduced to relative insignificance in a matter of yrs, probaly consolidate, stealership model, also influential, also obsolete and dying. On the other hand the Big 3 already been given some $8B in loans they won't be able to pay back, just this yr.
1
@Pleasiotic1 Yes as I already said. But you and I COULD pay far more in cash, my point stands.
1
@Pleasiotic1 Agreed, I was attempting to reach the "common Joe" with minimal words. I actually have a potent personal example that makes your point very well.
1
@Pleasiotic1 I bought a moderately expensive used car that set me back on the order of $500k in opportunity cost simply due to pulling cash out of the stock market right before having 10X gains. It was a smaller amount of my holdings, still did very well, but there u have it. (not saying I regret it, gotta live in the moment some too, just be honest with ourselves) These are choices we make ALL the time without quantifying them but it's worth thinking about sometimes.
1
@ozzierabbit587 Yes of course, good point, you apparently are not one of these folks at risk of repo tho, which is the subtext here.
1
@bogey19018 Adjusting for inflation, 70 today is 55 in 18. But why the hell would U buy NEW??
1
@duancoviero9759 Of course. But they can't be purchased if they aren't elected 1st. Don't dodge personal responsibility, graft is a given but noisy constituency comes before corruption is possible, democracy still works to that extent just as it always has.
1
Meanwhile Elon Musk who busts his ass constantly, made exactly ZERO for the last 6 yrs, thanks to corrupt Delaware Judge.
1
@silverback8183 Are you stupid?
1
@aaron-az Indeed, it's not only the Establishment Media Mafia that profits from hyperbolic headlines, temptation to clickbait seems irresistible and is often OK, we understand overstatement.
1
"Take THAT Elon Musk." Said Farley when launching the lightening, lol.
1
Shop used, simple.
1
@ThatGuy-qg4ww Never quite understood the reckless use of salt on roads, destroys so much stuff not just cars. We use tons of course sand and it does the job well.
1
I'm tiny minority apparently but want updates on your Tesla experience.
1
Not that unions ever care about what happens two yrs forward, but they'll be looking at zero income later this decade as Big 3 go belly up.
1
@mitchthornton1820 Yeah somethings wrong with that picture.
1
The greedy workers voted for this result, can't believe they didn't expect it when it was obvious to everyone else.
1
We've had around 20% total inflation over last few yrs, that's not likely to reverse....dollar is simply worth less.
1
@hkfan4596 I've long believed it to be inevitable, but also the unfortunate demise of legacy auto MFGs, they are simply too poorly managed to survive what's coming to the market. Ultimately it's all healthy, in rural America we used to rely on the likes of Sears, no one even remembers them now let alone misses them.
1
@redhed9776 If it's more than the bare minimum you can get by with then you should have enough to pay cash for it twice over. The primary cost of a new car is generally depreciation. I've never bought a new car in 45 yrs of owning cars. (exception for a 1-ton service truck for my business) One can by an old Civic for very little and get by just fine. Live poor to become rich. Having driven econoboxes for decades, I can now drive what I WANT. The reason folks are living hand to mouth is poor or nonexistent monetary discipline.
