@unclemonster48 In a way. I liken it to Amazon vs Sears, Montgomery Wards plus a few others. Creative destruction. But Tesla was started to just kick the legacies into gear (actually beyond gears), T wasn't expected to exist by now but instead show the way before it failed. But then Elon never gives up no matter how terrible the odds.

@unclemonster48 Disruption almost always comes from outside established big business, Xerox invented the computer mouse but it took little upstart Apple to capitalize on it. Kodak was early into digital photography but didn't want to disrupt it's lucrative film biz. GM had a well loved short range EV back in the 1990's but didn't pursue it, then they all laughed at tiny Tesla and the rest is mostly history. Misaligned corporate reward structure a big part of problem, Wall St. focus on short range profits and C-suite rewarded whether they run biz into the ground or not. Elon was paid ZERO unless a series of impossible targets were achieved.
