  2. They are incredibly elusive. Obviously less common than coyotes but also almost spiritually stealthy. Only one I even saw was near Cali-Nevada border at night in the headlights. It was raised area of road with only 2 or 3ft high scattered desert bushes U can see right thru, NO place to hide. Yet I stopped my service truck and spotlighted across the endless barren landscape from 40ft high but big cat had simply vanished in seconds.

  3.  @LucinaFireEmblem1997  There have been on the order of a dozen big cat attacks on humans in 150 yrs in West US. Mosquitoes are the real hazard but they aren't sexy.
