@grannyannie2948 Interesting. Thanks for explanations. There's always plenty of critics on all sides of US military preparedness, and that's a good thing. Criticism is healthy and so is our navy. Gaud knows we spend too much on it.

They lose a little street cred with me talking smack about my Commifornia power situation--despite best efforts to sabotage the system, some things look worse at a distance given media, including this source, hyperbolic drama. I've only experienced one 6 hr blackout in last 2 yrs other than a couple scheduled grid maintenance brief outages. The worst is that we have one of highest electric rates and THE highest petrol prices in the contiguous 48 states. Could be worse, no? ;-)

@oliveoil7642 First visited BC at 5, later rode bike across much of it, fond memories. We have are own severe political crisis to worry about with Kim Jong Newsom angling for another term and then the White House. He's claiming the other side is burning books, panning FL and TX (which have done far better in the Scamdemic) while his latest move is to muzzle, punish doctors who question his Authoritarian vacc stance. I loath the SOB and his comrades with a passion.

Reluctant to say for sure but seems the tide is turning in the US, AOC and Pelosi getting booed, the youth turning against The Machine. I hope the worst can be averted "with a little help from their friends", particularly USA abundant NatGas ramped up shipping to Euro. Free enterprises still works in America, when allowed to at least.

@grannyannie2948 I don't entirely agree with that, free trade with trusted partners equals more prosperity for all. Russia and China are not on that list tho. Ausies can sell us in US a lot of stuff, Euro and much of Asia too and visa versa, it's a win win. They are better at some things we at others. Wouldn't want to be without Italian olive oil, lol. (seriously tho)

@grannyannie2948 USA has surplus of agriculture products, much of the world will need some of that soon, along with other products, Boeings to computers. Likewise we need a litany of metals, semiconductors, etc. Some of it can be moved on shore over time at significant cost but other things are fundamentally geographically determined. Also trade is a major stabilizing influence, a deterrent against war as Putin is learning now.

Y'all got it a bit worse from the CCP than us, tho Bill Gates buying farmland in USA not much better. 😄 And CCP paying for our universities, etc. VERY insidious. Got NO problems trading with Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Central America, Japan, Euro, Ausie, Vietnam, Taiwan, S. Korea and MOST of the rest. Crucial cross border collaboration and mutual interest.

@grannyannie2948 WOW...about the drunken Chinese immigrants touting CCP rule. Why are they there in a semi-free society then? Ask them that? Our navy has 11 potent aircraft carriers that know how to get the job done with most advanced killer air machines in the sky, versus China's ONE unproven carrier. MY tax dollars keep the global oil supply chain secure, CCP in check and much more. I get that 30M population vs our 330M can't expect equal contribution but we need help. Love it when Japan, Germany, Ausies stick their neck out too. Our navy is FAR from neglected or weakened, quite the contrary. And we spend (squander?) more than the next 6 to 10 nations COMBINED most of whom are our allies not our adversaries.

@grannyannie2948 I'd choose to be a pauper in the West then a billionaire in China where you can't even be openly honest...but then our basic human right of free expression is under attack internally too. Without that nothing else matters. Y'all giving up your rights to self defense is also a crime against humanity. Even in Commifornia I can get a permit to carry and/or defend my home with force if necessary. THAT MATTERS.
