Comments by "Bo McGillacutty" (@Mrbfgray) on "Wildfires tear through California as state of emergency declared" video.
These vids only 15 to 30 minutes from my place. This is what we call "summer" in Cali....as long as we continue to avoid managing wild lands properly.

@oldbloke204 Get educated on this topic, if you care, won't happen from Establishment "news" or so called public education, aka., mindless indoctrination camps.

@kermitthehermit9588 What should we call them? Semi-wild lands? Doesn't change an F'ing thing. Humanity has been an integral input on these lands for 10's of thousands of yrs and NOW that we have screwed it up so tragically, too leave them alone guarantees destroying the last of old growth and perpetual disasters. You can quibble about semantics but there is no such thing as a landscape in N. America that's not heavily effected by us, if nothing else just putting out lightening fires, putting out ALL fires.

@oldbloke204 Situation normal, July is hot here. I've gained a modest fortune on TSLA. How about U? Did you fall for the propaganda propagated by the Establishment that BEVs are done? hahaha OKAY...go with that, just like Biden isn't senile they said.

@oldbloke204 I've gained modest fortune on TSLA. It's not about trading but investing, 5, 10 plus yrs. First backed up the truck around $12, 5 yrs ago. Did you fall for that Establishment narrative that BEVs are done? hahaha OK go with that.

@oldbloke204 I have engineering background, funny my profs couldn't give a crap about arbitrary language mechanics. They were rigorous about concepts, math skills, logic, things that matter, not mindless memorization.

@oldbloke204 PE alone is as dumb as it gets. You call it gambling but I guarantee you I know far better than U what I own and why, granted I've invested insane amount of time and energy on it. Future of TSLA? 10 or 20X before 2030, 100X by mid 2030's. The vehicle sales, while growing another 10X, will be a rounding error in terms of profits.

@oldbloke204 Fire is NOT OPTIONAL in most of the US, certainly the West. What is somewhat optional is when and how things burn. Many native tree species, inc redwoods, cannot exist without fire, reptile diversity requires it, invasive weeds are controlled by fire, what's left of old growth, 200/300 yr old trees will die without fire. Short list. Need more arguments? Not talking about catastrophic fires which are almost entirely man made, from clear cutting and "high grading" (removing large trees) to lack of frequent low intensity fires, mostly the latter. High time the pervasive ignorance is eroded. "Smokey Bear was the cruelest joke ever played on the West." (a local 4th gen rancher noted)

@oldbloke204 You'd have said the same about Tesla 5 yrs, 20X ago. No? Certainly the same narratives were the norm. Never easy finding signal in the noise. No reason you would but you know nothing about Tesla, few do, why it's still an opportunity. Extremely difficult to get head around half of it. Couple hints: T is the only Co. on Earth even attempting let alone succeeding at general solution to autonomous driving. (Chinese will/may be beginning to copy) The same AGI can be applied to humanoid bots. The arithmetic on those results in insane numbers if T captures, say 20% of global market. (Apple has roughly 20% of smartphone market and captures 60% of profits) I don't care what U believe, but gambling it is NOT. Extremely lucky for exceptional opportunity, NOT lucky to cash in on it. Never easy. (pardon caring on, struggle to be brief)

@oldbloke204 You still don't seem to understand that fire is essential element of the landscape and at this point--so is humanity, at least until we undo most of the fuel buildup we caused. Lightening is not new and everything is geared to require fire. Natives burned it seasonally then ranchers, loggers, etc., it WORKED. Then the Feds came and forced an end to the crucial practice and worse, putting out all fires. Climate is a factor but it's not as warm as the peak of Medieval Warm Period despite attempts to erase that history for sake of narrative. We have enough trees that were alive then and still thriving, to know it wasn't catastrophic. I don't much care what anyone thinks about Tesla. I DO care about the persistent gross lack of understanding of the local landscape. Long time hobby horse of mine. On the outside chance some here care enough, very short vid segment precisely about this particular fire: https://youtu.be/-F7Dn1sxrvw?t=678 (just one or two min at that start point) And a 14 min vid about some common old growth requirements, both easy listening and interesting: https://youtu.be/mZDol3pHkMI Just to get folks thinking, take hours to cover half properly.
