Bring it ON...as a farther NorCali Lifer...we don't suffer a problem of too much snow in the Sierras but too little as a general rule. We could use 4X more. Crossing Sierras mid winter has always required attention to weather, preparation and/or cancel trip, go around.

It's their job description, turn everything into drama. Winter in the Sierras, situation normal. Driven those roads 4 decades and you could never expect easygoing mid winter on I-80, but it's highly maintained, they throw TONS of equipment to clear primary artery. Never closed for long.

@thornil2231 Taking everything into account. Ground water top of list for several reasons, it's by far the biggest reservoir and fragile in ways we can't fix if damaged, subsidence is expected to be permanent, terrifically shortsighted.

@thornil2231 Up to 30ft or so I believe. Not good. It won't rebound much, it's a permanent loss of capacity for your biggest best and, usually, only reservoir. Glacier ice aside, about 85% of our liquid fresh water is in the ground.

@thornil2231 And other food crops. We all eat but there have to be limits on pumping. Ultimately SoCali should probably rely on desalinization extensively, using less doesn't seem to be feasible. Long ago wrecked the Colorado River, Owens Lake, etc., for Los Angeles growth....tried to destroy Mono Lake too but the courts stop them. (my old man fought for Owens Valley against LA in the '90's, they won a few, mainly Mono Lake)
