@ericgen1231 Poor don't pay any income tax at all, is THAT FAIR? Doesn't really matter because the poverty mentality has nothing good to offer anyway. Maybe we should force them to work harder and better, force them to save and invest so we have something to steal from them too??

@BobBoberts-n3e Seriously? Exactly what he talked about, living within our means for a change, the alternative is going to be far more expensive including continuing inflation tax which happens to be regressive for those who care.

@BobBoberts-n3e Presumably his "conservative plan" comes closer to balancing the books, given his track record I believe him. You want the details it's a big fucking boring BOOK, get it? Way beyond your attention span or a 2 min vid and it's not just military largess that needs attention, abolish the DHS (dreaming), cut entitlements, slash everything in sight IMO. He's not king so....

@BobBoberts-n3e Lobbying is not inherently corrupting and has it's place but that's an entire diff discussion along with campaign finance reform, yes lobbying in it's current form is typically corrupting, it need not be. *Make graft and insider trading illegal again*, and so on. John McCain made valiant effort twice in the 1990's to reduce the degree to which DC is inherently corrupting, he failed. We'd be far better off paying congress ppl $1m/yr while banning the biggest sources of corruption but that's not part of any budget (which is the topic here) and not about to happen until we the ppl raise hell. We get the government we deserve unfortunately. Folks want all sorts of benefits they imagine their neighbors will pay for instead of themselves, dumb as that is.

@ericgen1231 NO Trump fan here but his tax cuts resulted in increased revenue, at least combined with reductions in onerous regulations and so on. Increasing the tax rate can result in less revenue, in fact it's guaranteed to do so beyond critical point in Laffer Curve.

@ericgen1231 Worth noting that the top 20% pay 70% of income taxes regardless of the propaganda you may have accepted. You can't tax those who don't offer any value to confiscate. Should be common sense.

@ericgen1231 I have no interest in forcing others at gun point to pay more than they are, my concern is to pay less myself, to see less flushed down the toilet and used against me by our insanely corrupt government. We have a DHS doing everything it can to destroy the 1st Amendment, IRS, FBI, and many more politically weaponized including political prisoners like any Banana Republic. USA has fallen significantly in the freedom index over last decade, funding the same destructive agencies MORE will only make things worse. YES many loophole should be closed and massive tax simplification implemented but stem the severed arteries before looking for more blood to infuse.
