College is now largely obsolete (exceptions for MDs and a few others), you can learn virtually anything online today for next to no cost.

I paid my own way, took me longer than most would find acceptable but I graduated with a real degree (engineering, not common basket weaving) and zero debt.

@nessP-b6i Looking in the wrong places then. Best outfits don't require paper degrees which are usually meaningless anyway. Try Tesla if you are good enough, they are substance based, degree gets you nowhere there.

@alanfairbrother890 Half of the curriculums students choose are useless and you can learn anything online for virtually nothing. Universities have priced themselves out legitimacy and tech has made them redundant. Meanwhile there's endless 6 figure opportunities in the trades that no one wants.

@Allthewaylive2025 TBH it never even dawned on me to take out loans or even ask parents for monies they could have easily provided, just not my style. Parents paid $3k of my entire tab before I had my tiny contracting biz up to speed to pay my way. Also started in JC which was nearly "free", paid by taxpayers, by now I've more than paid those taxes.
