There were some 3M buffalo on "American Serengeti" before genociding the natives via terminating their sustenance, similar to number of cows today, when done properly large herbivores are a crucial part of healthy landscape. (factory farms are another thing entirely) Why worry about methane? It last less than 2 decades in the atmosphere, utterly trivial. What IS the ideal CO2 level?? Can't be zero as that's the end of everything that matters, the arbitrary historically LOW level of 300ppm has proven extremely treacherously low in recent glacial maximums. Quite likely that 600ppm is safer and better than 300, life thrived at 7000ppm, greenhouse farms prefer 4000 but settle for 2000 due to input costs and diminishing returns, humans and pollinators don't notice it.
