@geoffshelley2427 It's already way better than Waymo. Tesla could start robotaxis right now with fewer background teleoperators than Waymo requires.

@restonthewind Waymo is toast, it already feels disconcerting, jerky and confidence killing in, say crowds of pedestrians crossing the street, compared to V13. Waymo has no path to anything but incremental improvements with NO path to general use, if high deff maps fail it stops. They have a bunch of folks behind the scenes taking over constantly, teleoperating them.

@restonthewind But when and from where?

@restonthewind Where is the competition coming from and how long before it's actually "competitive". Of course it will but I don't see anything yet, China I imagine.

@restonthewind Tangent--it's going to take most other MFGs yrs to implement FSD after they make a deal with Tesla, they need to integrate the cams, computer and probably the entire car communication system will require replacing, to work with Tesla components. They can't even do over air anything w their current outsourced parts that don't work seamlessly together.

@henrybennett3739 Workhorse SpaceX rocket.

@restonthewind Tesla will license to every other mass market auto MFG and take half or most of the profits. That'll take care of that part of anti-trust issues. Eventually that will become a problem for other reasons, Elon may have to preempt via fragmenting Tesla at some point. Opening Superchargers to the industry in general, is good in part due to undermining anti-trust concerns. If you believe, as I do, that AI and 10's of billions $ in super compute and 100's of billions of miles are required, plus best engineers on Earth....no one else is even in the running that I know of. China probably next however.
