Yeah the family wants to cash in on their own stupidity. They shouldn't have kids at all.

And a "burst" isn't in the cards, way to wide for that, it's going to overtop and erode through somewhat gradually. Not to suggest complacency but this is NOT like a manmade earthen dam which is as narrow as possible hence erodes down fast.

In N. California rice farmers attract 100s of thousands of wild geese, the fields that get worked over have no leftover straw and the field is fertilized and in good shape for coming season. Stark difference from fields that (often for unknown reasons) don't attract the birds.

In my day it was "ring and run", same thing, somethings never change. The ones that reacted most were the fun ones to harass, no reaction was primary deterrent.

This disaster started in the 1960's with both feds and state clamping down on sensible prescribed burning. Yeah it seems nothing major gets done without disasters. As one local to me rancher said: "Smokey Bear is the cruelest joke ever played on the West."

WRONG. Most in Cali this season were lighting triggered but the CAUSE is the cessation of frequent prescribed burning. Fire is NOT OPTIONAL here it's an essential element of the landscape with many tree species unable to exist without it including redwoods. These lands MUST and WILL BURN it's a matter of at a time of our choosing, frequently with low fuel build up OR catastrophically after decades of fuel build during hot dry season.

GOOD GRIEF, learn something about reality please. YES the government is responsible since the 1960's when they began clamping down on sensible prescribed burning. Fire is NOT OPTIONAL here it's an essential element of the landscape with many tree species unable to exist without it including redwoods. These lands MUST and WILL BURN it's a matter of at a time of our choosing, frequently with low fuel build up or after decades of fuel build during hot dry season. Most in Cali this season were lightening triggered, you have NO IDEA what you are talking about.

@elsagrace3893 You don't know anything about this, quit faking it you are only fooling yourself and other naive children.

@elsagrace3893 FIRE is a natural process and it's not replaceable nor preventable but it IS manageable. BTW--I specified Giant Sequoias which are a different species from Coastal Redwoods. Do you even know what the cones LOOK like?...of course not.
