No defense for a few of Elon's comments here--HOWEVER providing Ukraine with $100M of Starlink internet hardware (free from SpaceX, donated) starting only days after Russian K.O.ed the internet there, arguably much more impactful than some questionable opinions which everyone is free to dismiss. Russia threatened Elon's life for that BTW. Actions speak louder than words. Everyone is complex and no one is perfect, get over it, he's done vastly more good for the world than any few Tweets can undo.

He's done great things for the world, sure he fears war on Taiwan and elsewhere, but he shouldn't opine every time and this is one of them.

Note that Elon just days ago recommended everyone get out of PayPal for some of their horrific woke crap, a company he cofounded but long ago parted with.

YES it will become an "everything app" but it will also be the only social media giant done correctly--open source algos and max inclusivity legally minimum censorship. (you won't be able to advocate real violence but about anything else goes) Funding is not a problem obviously.

He was threatened by Russia with assassination for providing Ukraine with internet after it was K.O.ed. That has been crucial for Ukraine. But he has a long history of getting into trouble with his comments...like when he said American Left "'had become the party of division and hate'" (good on him for that). Most of his controversial comments I approve of but not this time.

Yes and no, there was little to gain and everything to lose by criticizing the CCP. Not the same for Commifornia where some freedoms still exist. Everyone already knows Zero Covid is insanity. His open opinions on that wouldn't change a thing for the better and surely bring massive pain to Tesla.

Even if true it wasn't out of SpaceX pocket--Elon put his life on the line for it, to what degree is anyone's guess but pissing off a regeme famous for assassinating anyone anywhere in the world who said or did the "wrong" thing isn't to be taken lightly.

@bushy9780 Twitter has BEEN a dystopian nightmare. No not to the degree you are thinking but the primary reason Elon will own it is to completely upend it's character. It's possible that he'll have court battles concerning government spying access that they are accustomed to doing across all social media. So he may not get his way 100% but he'll sure as hell try to make it right in everyway. He sees it as essential for continued existence of democracy, and I believe he's correct. Taking it private means he'll have near zero interference from private interests.
