We have full size fire trucks going out on "I fell and can't get up" calls, pure insanity--simply switching to minivans would be a massive efficiency improvement.

@jeffbransky7966 I could see that angle especially as fires are relatively rare today, but much faster response could be had with an agile smaller vehicle for those types of situations where limited gear and personnel are required. I think it's an image/ego thing too--"firefighters" like a big "manly" truck and a big presence.

@magnusE7 BULLSHIT. I bet going from a medical emergency to a fire doesn't happen once pre yr and they would probably beat the fire trucks there anyway AND it's not a matter of 10X more types of vehicles...it's maybe 1 more. Any idea how much it costs to roll a big ostentatious "glory" fire truck??

@magnusE7 Firefighters are ALL about maximizing impact on local environment and GLORY , if you go to a trade show you can see them cum in their pants for gaudy fire trucks with endless lights and chrome. They have low skill lazy jobs with near zero risk but popular sentiment pretends they are heroes. In my town they have wrecked the budget with ridiculous excess compensation for doing next to nothing.
