Highly skeptical of TX (or any other government plan) for charging stations, they'll be 10X the cost w crap performance, misreble to use and half broken-down at any given time if recent history is any guide. Much prefer those monies go to road improvements, we didn't need government gas stations and Tesla and others can do charging.

@Frank_W. I guess it dates back to Reagan--"remove 2 regulations for every new reg" Simple but possibly good idea. Better yet, or in addition, all new laws should have an expiry date and new laws or extensions should require 60% vote while removing old laws should only take 40%...something like that should be built in. (sort of Elon's take) Revisit every law in say 20 yrs or it expires with exception of The Constitution and maybe a high hurdle for a few other exceptions. But yeah--try to terminate 'food for fuel' ethanol program and your going to lose support bc only those profiting on it care enough to vote on that single issue, no one else cares that much. It's the classic "distributed costs concentrated rewards" scenario. Or how Cuban Americans have driven the entire toxic Washington Cuban policy for half a century...only they will vote strictly on that issue while the rest of nation has other priorities.

@Frank_W. Right. I also don't like that they'll take credit for a revolution almost entirely driven by Elon when governments did more to slow it than accelerate it, AND it's a done deal by now anyway. Train has left the station and will be way ahead of all the silly gov mandates. High time to start focusing on slashing deficits and debt. Debt scares me a lot more than CO2 frankly.

@Frank_W. Maybe it doesn't apply to well to chargers but look at the disastrous programs that live far beyond all reason, very hard to turn off the spigot once established. Corn ethanol for fuel insanity won't end until gasoline is obsolete. California's hydrogen fuel stations which are never going to be remotely economic, on and on.
