GM had over half the entire USA market entering the '70's and all the Big 3 were offering nothing but crap cars. We needed Japanese imports to kick Big 3 in the butt.

@williampisano7573 Like all the times Elon said: "The stock price is to high in my opinion." ? The market is far smarter than you are. Tesla will be the biggest company on Earth before 2030, auto hardware will be the nearly trivial part of it.

@ I guess that part paid off, no? Anyway it's healthy creative destruction, old Co.s become slow and inefficient. For over a century rural America relied on Sears and a few smaller similar Co.s, no one misses them now.

@williampisano7573 Meanwhile every legacy auto co on earth is failing, I don't relish it but don't see path for most of them to survive this decade other than more massive subsidies and bailouts. GM spent their recent handouts, billions, on stock buybacks instead of progress toward viable BEV MFG as "intended".
