@iainnorquay5371 Heat only cares about going from hotter to cooler, it goes in any direction equally unless material properties are different in one direction vs another. Gravity means nothing to heat, the confusion comes from fluids we experience every day, particularly air, where warmer air is less dense therefore wants to float on top of cooler air. (it's not the heat that wants to go up it's the lighter weight air but the heat makes it lighter) Same thing with a pot of water on the stove as it's heated from the bottom you can often see the "convection currents", columns of rising hot water rising cooling slightly at top to circulate back lower, stirring the pot for you.

@rickdees251 I think Sandy might be wrong about the top being cooler, the sides yes because batt materials are NOT isotropic, it's more like a composite with layers of material some which conduct heat better than others so alternating layers would reduce heat flow to the sides but the heat can flow to the ends in the more conductive layers more efficiently. How much diff that makes I have no idea but I like getting rid of that ribbon winding between batts as they have currently. The bottom plate cooling should be a lot simpler, less prone to failure. Also that ribbon goes a long way so the batts at one end are going to be cooled more than at the other end, maybe that can be improved from the bottom. The ribbon takes significant space too.

3 wheels is crap for several reasons, that's why you never see many or for long. They come and go throughout out history always to fade away as inferior. (India is one exception but I bet they are legally favored there) Same with ATVs back in the 1970's/''80's, old golf carts, etc. Only reason for them is cheaper to build typically and in some places they skirt more stringent "car" regulations on the road and pass as a "motorbike".

@davis.fourohfour Get a golf cart it will be perfect for you.

Solids expand with heat (become slightly less dense also) but are not free to allow that density difference to circulate obviously.

@AllanSustainabilityFan There are no shortage of dedicated EV mfgs that also produce pathetic little boxes on garden equipment wheels for 15 to $25k ish.
1
@AllanSustainabilityFan Well obviously. But for some observers they may still have reason to think EV means compromised everything, something you need a big sense of humor to be seen in. hahaha

I hope I'm never so poor as to need a 3 wheeler. I like to get a little sideways at every opportunity in my cars I can barely imagine what that's going to be like on 3. Front drive sucks too.
1
@AllanSustainabilityFan Sure. Not against OTHERS driving them as long as they don't get in my way. HA!

@Amusis Let me give you a clue what a car is supposed to be for those of us who are capable of enjoying DRIVING. It's all about CAPABILITY, how does it go stop and turn, how does it handle at the limits and beyond. Does it predictably oversteer and stay planted. Smaller is generally better and 3 wheels is always CRAP. If that exceeds your tiny mind I can't help you.

@Amusis Did I hurt your feelings child? I wasn't referring to what others want. Back to your pedal trike Tiger.
