I'm still skeptical about the economics, I hope it works out, so much more attractive than standard panels. I'll be looking into it for new house and maybe shop too.
8
Same here. Got the saw first over 5 yr.s ago, then blower, hedge trimmer and finally mower a couple yr.s ago probably weed wacker next.
6
I'd further say Elon is the most important individual on the planet today. (no I'm not a cultist I don't worship anyone)
5
We always wait yr.s for Tesla innovations but they have always wowed eventually.
3
@Joeys hobbys - small engine fixes NOT even a problem. If you have more than one tool you probably have more than one batt, one will last 30 min to and hr. and they take max of 30 min to charge, swapping batt is faster than pulling an ICE starter cord.
3
I'm with you on that tho I leave some 'empty space' which will remain small lawns among islands of productive beautiful trees, bushes, vines, etc.
3
Now if you'd just replace some of that lawn with productive fruit trees and bushes it could be an even more attractive space to BE. ;-) (nice vid)
3
I avoid 100% charging my phone or other abuse and my batts last longer then the phone is useful, 4 or 5 yr.s, without noticeable degradation at all. As a small TSLA holder I'm very interested in this sort of thing.
2
Pending recycling getting sorted out.
2
@Joeys hobbys - small engine fixes ICE lawn tool days are going to last about as long as the tools themselves. GOOD RIDDANCE.
2
Many were disappointed the Y doesn't LOOK that much different than the 3.
2
@samuelgomola9097 Not talking about 1st day, how about 1st MOMENT in rolled out?
2
If it's that easy to improve on I hope/assume they will upgrade it in more than a few ways. MANY reasons not to be an early adopter.
2
I have tree shade before 9am and after 2pm, hoping still viable for me....or maybe I'll have to cut down my "giant" redwoods (not really!).
2
@JustfishNascar I bet you can do more than you think with it! But yes more is better, I'd love to have multiple acres. I'm lucky to have excellent climate and world class soil, loam literally deeper than you could ever go, maybe well over 20 ft. deep...seems a shame not to utilize it to grow anything one can.
2
I started switching a decade ago with EGO chainsaw--then all yard power equipment, blower is game changing.
1
I find mower headlights useful, it's quiet enough to run at night. No more: spark plugs, carbs, oil, pull cord, VIBRATION (I never thought of it before), nasty exhaust.....batts seem way over priced tho, fortunately only had 1 of 4 fail over the yrs and don't really need 4 anyway.
1
Tidal deformation must contribute significantly to Earth's internal heat also.
1
Chris Tombs Yes it does and can be easily calculated. Earth's rotational rate is decreasing and the energy is going only a few places--increasing the moon's orbital energy (moon is continuously getting further from Earth via robbing Earth's rotational energy) and heat within the Moon and Earth. Some of Saturn and Jupiter's moons are kept warm or even very hot internally in the same fashion,

Cali bureaucrats can claim victory while driving housing prices even higher. More folks will flee the state, not a bad thing it's way overpopulated. I'm planning on building a new small home in a few yr.s and would love to be completely free of the damn grid and the PG&E disaster scene. I expect many utilities to enter a death spiral in coming yr.s as the only option be going off grid.
1
Likely go with solar roof for new house build in few yrs, I don't like the add on panels.
1
This is the second vid of this nature on Tesla I have seen in recent days. They better get it together.
1
@UndecidedMF There is no company on the planet I want to see succeed more....only Elon's other ventures are in that ballpark. I'm guessing he will become aware of it and make some pertinent changes. He's certainly capable of turning things upside down when necessary.
1
@UndecidedMF I have always wondered about that, my understanding is they try to keep a lot of things secret including their battery tech and electronics which are superior, in some cases by a wide margin. As a potential stock holder it's not reassuring that they'd give away crucial advantages. I wonder to what extent Elon is tuned into channels like THIS, directly or indirectly, to keep up with customer issues. Back when Amazon was small Bezos was know to personally answer customer complaints by the hundreds daily I hear, it's that sort of responsiveness that allows them to thrive.
1
Cobalt vilification is over done IMO, in any case those negatives can be mitigated. Lower energy density concerns me more, that's definitely going the wrong direction.
1
H infrastructure is vastly more expensive than electric which is mostly built out already....definitely not apples to apples there. ;-)
1
@DJ-nn6vg I'm not criticizing. Just observing some significant disappointment from OTHERS out there, I don't recall any of that on prior releases. If it works for the customer that's all that matters. All Teslas are tasteful/attractive in outward appearance.
1
Thanks for helping us decide.
1
If Tesla semi is even a few percent heavier than diesels it could severely limit it's use case, it will be fine in some instances but not others where the entire profit margin relies on final 5% of cargo cap.
1
Good idea not to be first.
1
Excellent. I tend to dismiss T. Solar. If it's as good as it sounds here it's likely going on my new house.
1
@UndecidedMF So am I. Also very interested (selfishly) how it will effect TSLA value in coming yr.s. As a NorCali resident the impetus to become independent or partially independent of the grid is growing every month with the continuous disaster that PG&E has become. Recent blackouts have driven solar stock prices up in some cases as many more households are driven to go solar. I've been expecting a E-utility death spiral eventually for yr.s now, seems like the beginning of the end of PG&E if not also SoCal Edison. I imagine they may be restructured as existing centralized power sources (hydro, wind, etc.) will still need to be distributed for a long time to come but I have doubts it will be affordable. Frankly I'd love to say "F-you guys, were cutting the wires." Excessive prices and mismanagement infuriates me.
1
I'm looking to build new (smallish) also, in a few yrs. I still don't see anything inspiring in prefabs, 10 to 20% savings doesn't motivate me much. Very boxy boring looking things.
1
It's a small beer can but I like the idea. :D
1
I can't say if it's the best option available but switching from ICE to EGO yard power tools yr.s ago has been a huge savings in time, racket and frustration. (chainsaw, blower, hedge trimmer and mower so far) We had 2 acres to mow as kids including 100's of yards of ditch and pond edges to trim via hanging the mower over the sides.
1
6:00 Is that a Tesla factory? Why are they manually doing something that looks entirely robotic?
1
Wait till that beautiful glass gets sandblasted in front and replacement is $7k.
1
Triggering a quake earlier than it otherwise would have ruptured should decrease the intensity of the eventual quake that would have happened anyway.
1
I might fear the thing behind my light wt. sports car on the road. Model X drivers already have a reputation of being the "new Hummer" drivers, aka., assholes. Although I tend to think big jacked up PU drivers are the real Aholes. (for me the design looks good if it's justified by function, manufacturing efficiency, etc.) SOME do seem to purchase base on style alone--hence that tin can minivan PT Cruiser.
1
I think there are 3 of you. :D
1
@samuelgomola9097 I just hope they offer a more sensible version. No need to change the basic shape but most of us don't need nor want an armored vehicle. Imagine how difficult and dangerous those doors are going to be when the truck is tilted a little, surely they are going to require powered door actuators with some of the same problems with sensors and controls that the X is famous for. Standard doors can be a problem when a truck is leaned over a little and these are going to be 2 to 3X heavier. A big negative for most of us. And wt. degrades every single aspect of a vehicle with the exception of colliding with another vehicle. Heavy doors also contribute nothing to the structure.
1
Price point makes me nervous as a stockholder.
1
@kendrickbrown65 I'm sort of counting on that, maybe a massive improvement as in 40% increase in energy density say. (or 20% along with big cost and cycle-life improvements)
1
The title premise makes little sense to me. "Who killed the electric car" becomes entirely indoctrinational after the first half. As a TSLA holder or T. car owner I'd prefer only T. cars used T. superchargers. I don't have a problem with the old brands being entirely replaced, that's a healthy market place.
1
They do pay for some advertising, the give-away cars and free supercharger use for YouTubers promoting the Co. One angle would be that increased demand would allow higher prices. NO to traditional advertising The cultists ARE damaging the brand, many ppl want to hate the cars because of the 'militant Tesla fanatics'.
1
Surveys are very interesting. Laughing at the end concerning Tezla (that's how Elon say's it!) milestones fits my thoughts on the matter...very difficult, I expect some yr.s out.
1
@UndecidedMF Of all trivial things.... :D
1
Far worse droughts have happened in the last 1200 yrs, decades to a century droughts are the norm in the West over last 5k yrs. Please get beyond headlines and propaganda. Not to miss the meat of the vid which is appreciated.
1
Surprised I missed this one--a crucial topic for me.
1
@DeeBee2013 BALONEY. They do everything they can to get an extra 1/2 of a % of better fuel economy. You have NO IDEA what your talking about and no concept of how a competitive market works. EVs would replace ICE regardless.
