Chris Tombs Yes it does and can be easily calculated. Earth's rotational rate is decreasing and the energy is going only a few places--increasing the moon's orbital energy (moon is continuously getting further from Earth via robbing Earth's rotational energy) and heat within the Moon and Earth. Some of Saturn and Jupiter's moons are kept warm or even very hot internally in the same fashion,
