Exactly, not prudent to get ahead, excess capacity requires maintenance, decays and becomes obsolete.

Same old story, this is how Tesla works, how it stays dynamic and vibrant. Are you new in this space? Endless litany of same rhetoric every couple yrs, 2018 was relentless--"Tesla losing executives like crazy! It's DOOMED!" When actually Tesla retains top executives much longer than typical Silicon Valley companies.
14
Listen to what he says and does, don't overthink it. Media hype continues to mislead along with random opinions running wild.

@Battleneter Quit panicking and pretending that something new is happening. Get perspective, Elon thrives on drama and apparently his enterprises do too. It's always portrayed as "unhinged and destructive" but never turns out to be. Happens every yr to one degree or another. If you are a Noob investor, this may not be for you, think S&P instead.
4
Anyone else remember when Wall St. panned Tesla for building the charging infrastructure at all? Elon usually knows where he's going and what he's doing, rapid adjustments are part of his method.
4
Are you new here? This happens every couple yrs w Tesla. 2018 was a nonstop din of doom over "departing executives".
4
Also--does the regulatory environment even allow rapid development? Seems Ausieland has an excess government problem but I wouldn't know for sure.
3
@tatata1543 BYD also has no effort to autonomous, they'll be dependent on Tesla for that like everyone else.
3
@tjhessmon4327 LOL! He was there 18 yrs, that's a fifty yr career anywhere else. He's wealthy AF and surely really does want to spend time with family, as deliberately misleading as that typically is.
3
It'll happen but it may require early adaptors to make substantial presence first, many in the US don't charge anywhere but at home for yrs at a stretch. Yes that means limited utility in the short term but most have more than one car, the other can be ICE for now.
2
@Battleneter HOW LONG have you been involved in this? Obviously you are not mentally equipped to handle it if this sort of thing panics you. I've been thru far harder times just in last 6 yrs, it was harder still before that. Did you think it was going to be EASY? Did you think easy money was ever possible??
2
@tatata1543 And WHEN are other MFGs going to sell significant cars in USA? US legacies are not about to, Japan? Nope. Europe?? Not really, China not anytime soon. Maybe Costa Rica will compete with Tesla.
2
@tatata1543 How long have you followed Tesla and Elon? Does BYD actually offer competitive cars? They don't even outsell Tesla in CHINA, even with major CCP cash subsidies. If when they build in Mexico they are going to face a host of new issues, they are heavily dependent on cheap labor vs automation and the US won't just let them bury US legacy auto that easy. BYD reviews are mixed, some are even front drive which is rubbish. IF BYD can compete it Euro and N. America is yet to be proven. If Mr. T. wins, no MFG outside the US will have much of a chance. Regardless, BYD spokeswoman says it's not about to happen.

There will be some rehires no doubt, Elon's method says that if you don't delete so many parts that you have to replace 10% you haven't deleted enough. Similar for staff.
2
Yeah most will do just fine if they lasted a yr at Tesla.

@IN-hw8it6 My personal fave, only desert I have any interest in TBH. :D)

NOOBS.

@interman7715 Back to your toy cars and vid games Sport.

@ericbabich Hate to hear that, the end is near if true. DC is often characterized as "uniparty" too, both sides way too similar, weak and terrified of intelligence agencies.

@richardlinares6314 Tesla had nearly 100% of the market at one point, market share was guaranteed to drop while they continue to sell more every yr. They still sell more than all the rest combined bc they are vastly superior value. Charging infrastructure is good and getting better, for TESLA cars. Deflated that...yeah let's all panic over FUD. Have you driven a Tesla across country or listened to those who do? It's not a problem for the most part. I have range anxiety and fueling frequency issues in my old 2011 BMW M3 sometimes. WE NEED MORE GAS STATIONS!!! :D)
1
@richardlinares6314 Hybrids don't count, BEVs are the future. There's plenty of room for Tesla, BYD, XPENG and more as they go from 10% to 100% of market. New Model 3 is vastly superior, pay attention to reviews. I can't remember last time I replace car headlights, don't rear end other cars. Yeah buttons--that's what Nokia said. You still use a flip phone?
1
@richardlinares6314 Used M3 is a great deal, just way inferior to the best deal out there, the NEW M3 (not necessarily better value than used one, personal choice). Choice is good, I choose my old BMWs, but I can afford it, most can't. I'll never by a new or even 10 yr old ICE again tho. Jason Cammisa says the new Model 3 Performance makes the BMW M3 irrelevant. It's that good in his highly tuned, experienced opinion. Don't let emotions cloud your judgement. IDK, maybe you have some axe to grind with Elon and Tesla. That's your issue not my concern. Or just playing devil's advocate? Either way it's all good by me.

@geelangfordo3272 Twitter would have been bankrupt within a yr had Elon not taken it over and it's thriving today like never before. You didn't know this? You need to avoid Establishment propaganda, it's not serving you well.
1
@geelangfordo3272 WRONG. Twitter/X is thriving like never before, that's not saying much as it was a failing activist organization that never made a profit.
1
@geelangfordo3272 Nope. It's thriving like never before.

@michaelmcgrath7465 Nothing fails like prayer, the positive sentiment should be welcome however.

@newsgeekus1216 With the exception of Chinese and maybe a couple Euro brands, the competition continues to fall further behind. Have you not noticed the trouble F and GM are in? Or that the auto market is cyclical and we are in a downturn that is going to terminate a ton of dealerships and a few online use car shops? Have you noticed even BYD sales drop precipitously? US legacies have basically tossed in the towel, pedaling crappy hybrids that won't last the decade to delay the inevitable which they are going to be LESS capable of meeting by then.
1
@sinjab5908 Yes they do, not all but most are Noobs, a few yrs ain't enough. I've been following for decade and a half and it took me, say 5yrs, to gain confidence.
1
@newsgeekus1216 I mean no offense, not my job to change anyone's mind, but I call out BS where I see it.
1
@newsgeekus1216 Skepticism and questioning should always be welcomed, certainly Elon wouldn't be where he is if he didn't embrace intelligent challenges to his thinking. Robo by August need not happen, that's the reveal of specifics, the actual cars, the biz plan. Tesla team can see FSD 3 to 6 months forward of where it's released today. TSLA will be sailing if robos begin in late 2025 say, if it's later that's worse but the TAM is spectacular a few yrs forward. Every other MFG will have to license software from Tesla, that process could start at anytime, similar to the charging network access, one domino (likely Ford) will fall and the rest will follow. It'll take a few yrs to implement in other MFGs so they best get moving.
1
@lbbnjsharpe Not to take joke seriously but--started own contracting biz at 20 after few yrs suffering union culture in underground mining industry. Only good thing union ever did for me was motivate me to escape it. :D)

They have not earned much on charging.
