@thomasruwart1722 Tesla and SpaceX consistently rank 1st and 2nd or 3rd top choice for graduating engineers. Some 2M applied for 20k openings at Tesla last yr, far harder to get into than Harvard. They have the pick of the very best and exceptional fundamental selection methodology. Plus a CEO who knows how to motivate and get the most out of them, no hierarchy or "chain of command" interference to efficiency--they go straight to the most pertinent person to solve problems.

@thomasruwart1722 True. Culture is incredibly important and Elon seems to have about the best priorities ever to that end. Some do get burned out but one engineer who quit due to Tesla hrs and demands came back bc "I'd rather be burned out than bored." Contrary to popular notions they retain their top tier staff considerably longer than average of Silicon Valley firms. Some quit bc they have become rich off the stock options.

@thomasruwart1722 I've contracted for "a thousand" outfits over the yrs and I can typically smell union mentality immediately. It corrodes the entire enterprise top to bottom, with rare exceptions. Causes endless petty conflicts and distraction, wasted energy and focus. As a shareholder and concerned citizen I loath the idea of a unionized Tesla but it doesn't seem likely anytime soon.

New version is truly great for the price.

@thomasruwart1722 I won't waste our time, but I could tell some stories about unions I've encountered. Began to loath them right from my first industrial job as 17 yr old. The only thing they ever did for me was help convince me to start my own business at 20. Union Pacific Railroad union was an incredible shit show for my couple weeks contracting for them. Track maintenance crew raised hell about my presence up and down the line, despite the fact that no one around was remotely either willing or able to do my work. They got zero warning when the project was to terminate bc that would allow the workers to steal everything in sight, it was cheaper to suddenly lay them off and pay the 2 extra weeks. (oops, guess that was a story, lol) Yeah I'm late boomer.

For those unaware--a solid rectilinear brick has a drag coefficient of 1 by definition. You get better efficiency by going slower and NOT changing speeds, not needing regen.

@ulyden1947 So much for one metric. It's an exceptional car for the price.

@ulyden1947 More brand options the better. Plenty of good products out there. Some are even great. I'm still happy w my old BMWs for now, lol.
