Isn't a large portion of that debt "secured" by is products? The problem with that being that the owners of those vehicles may end up way under water and unwilling to pay them off.

@cyclopsvision6370 And if the BEV scenario plays out as it seems--the value of even a pristine ICE vehicle may have near zero value long before it's worn out. Not entirely convinced that will be the case but seems likely this decade. Also not entirely thrilled with that scenario, still love me 'old' BMW M3, visceral analog, 3 pedals, screaming high revving V8, a replacement for the high performance motorcycles of my youth. Just man machine and the road, not near ready to give that up.

@andy-pd4eh Is that so, interesting. I do think a significant portion could become 'stranded assets' if that's the term, probably most after they are paid off tho? (I've always paid cash with one exception for biz vehicle)
