  1. One more painful step towards decoupling, can't really afford to be codependent on the CCP anymore. Much more concerned about Rare Earth production, we'll replace China supplies and they'll be without a global market, if they push too hard. Saudis embargoed oil to the USA once. Response: we doubled industrial, home, car...efficiencies, terminated oil fired electric plants (yes was a thing), developed alternatives across the board. Saudis paid for it for decade(s) w low prices, plus permanent reduced reliance.

  4. Must diversify away from the CCP dependence. They're global market share just took a long term hit. Was painful reducing Saudi oil dependence in 1970's, they embargoed USA, caused a recession. But never again so beholden to Saudis. Global free trade good when dealing with stable nations of similar values, solid trade agreement countries, others operating mostly legally.

We were prosperous before China opened up and can continue to be after she foolishly slams the door. Population doesn't mean squat, Africa has tons of ppl yet we don't trade a pile with them. Most Chinese are poor peasants.

China Sea area, decimating ocean fish stocks, stealing industrial/military secrets wholesale, genociding the Wiegers (sp?), infiltrating Western universities, social media, etc., etc. Causing a global pandemic, covering up it's origins (they created it in a lab with USA help) and deliberately exporting the virus all over the world and still no real consequences for that?! Worst actors on the global stage, the CCP cares about one thing, staying in power.

  8.  @Withnail1969  ENTIRELY replaceable. They do it cheaper via destroying quality of life and the environment. Virtually all ground water is toxic, that's quasi permanent, rivers you wouldn't dare swim in, garbage everywhere, city air you can't breath....hell scape. I'd be a peasant anywhere in the West before a billionaire under evil CCP tyranny, not even a consideration.
