@jcty87 Seems natural and obvious but 'genius' can be that. Those moving livestock from paddock to paddock or otherwise cause animals to keep moving as they graze - produce top tier land/soil and best beef, dairy, meat...in Cali massive flocks of wintering geese process rice stubble in flooded fields, prepping for next planting and fertilizing.

Cali rice farms flood wintering fields n try to attract massive flocks of mostly geese (some ducks) to process the stubble, incorporate remains in soil and fertilize. Fields next to eachother, one "geesed" the other not, strangely happens, the foul inundated fields ready for planting, the others have stubble problems left over instead of stubble-goose enhancement. NOT as impressive as co-farming but interesting. (((my crude understanding from living working among rice fields, not a farmer. Goose populations have 2 to 3X in recent decades in Cent. Valley Cali, geese setup multi tier flight traffic patterns fascinating to watch, seems like 10's of thousands can be seen from one location at times in air and water}))

It's a questionable product for half yr drought every yr Cali but we do it Water rights/pricing 'tilts the field', market forces take care of it except for externalities.

Wolves indeed go after livestock frequently enough to be a real problem for ranchers, incorporating some burros in the herds is one remedy to that problem. But if you want a natural landscape - large predators typically essential to that project.
