  1. How about a seismic gas shutoff valve? If the structure shakes it automatically shuts off gas supply until manually reset.

  2.  @sharky7665  HA! They have been used for at least a decade or so in Cali, I've installed a few for big institutional customers and have one for my own house yet to be installed. (called "Little Firefighter" gas shut off valve--available on Amazon for around $100 for 3/4" pipe, residential size)

  3.  @sharky7665  I'm not into construction much either but as a welding contractor I get called for all sorts of things including gas pipelines on occasion, only reason I knew of them. Seems like a real good idea with minimal cost and mine should be fairly easy to install.
