Something like Yellow Stone--how much heat per yr is rising on average? I'd bet an extensive network of geothermal heat collection pipes could indeed remove that energy faster than it's naturally released while creating significant electric power. Seems possible to end the threat. It would ruin the parks attraction in terms of geysers and such but better than the eventual alternative.

@Bitchslapper316 Not even possible to "dig into magma chamber" but also wouldn't make a difference if you could, not as tho a tiny crack is going to make a difference to the forces involved. Taking the heat off in solid hot crust ABOVE magma over millennia is possible however.

@RandomChangeling We aren't even that powerful short of the biggest Hbomb ever made buried deep and detonated. Not as tho a tunnel or crack is going to mean anything to the situation.

@concernedamerican6961 There is only so much energy available and the time frame is on order of million yrs between eruptions. Multiplying the energy dissipation at the near surface by a 1000 fold over natural levels might do the trick. This is something that could be simulated and confirmed or refuted. It would be a multi millennial project however, massive investment but also huge electric power generation.

@Bitchslapper316 The fact is that the geysers get their energy from the magma and enough of them or similar heat dissipation WOULD EVENTUALLY cool the magma. That heat is not infinite. Geyser water doesn't get anywhere near the magma which is some 20X hotter, that's hilarious.
