ALL consumer electronics, most appliances and many other things are dramatically cheaper. Your phone alone replaces several thousand $ worth of 1990 equipment, camcorder, camera, calculator, maybe even desktop computer. Cars today are vastly superiour to 1970's death traps that got 12mpg, had bad brakes, crap acceleration and handling, no AC, homes are vastly bigger and better today and so on.

@darkwoodmovies Suffice to say you'd pout and turn up your nose to the well used (near worthless even at the time) Ford Pinto I rellied on for many yrs, or the mini pickups that followed for another couple decades. No aircon, no power anything, max speed 85 mph with a tail wind, 45 ponies... NO you don't have to buy anything, learn to take responsibility for yourself and your choices. If you are over 16 and making minimum wage that's on YOU for not investing in yourself and becomming more valuable. I doubt you'd be worth minimum to ME.

@darkwoodmovies I invested everything in my skills, work ethics, experience, saving every dime from mechanicing/welding at an underground mine, back to back double shifts for weeks straight, etc. Since the toxic union culture diluted my efforts with a bunch of lazy slackers, I started my own biz at 20 to set my own terms. Anyone in the USA can create their own job and command as much as you are actually worth. NO it's not easy, nothing good ever was, but anyone of near average health and intelligence can do it. Today I'm financially independent, drive the car I WANT not need, own modest place outright, only work part time.

@darkwoodmovies Never been easier to earn $130k, and you don't need to live where you do. Most American families get by on less than that. If your spending $300 going out for a night that's just reckless unless you too are an everyday millionaire, no shortage of those today. But they didn't get there by living beyond their means as it sounds like you are, live poor to become rich and THEN live a little more rich. Minimum wage is for kids and those just entering the workforce. NO EXCUSE for being stuck there, YOUR CHOICE, own it.

@darkwoodmovies There never was any such thing as "guarantees" in life, you must have a fantasy view of the past when it was far more difficult, pick any prior decade, things have never been easier it's just that NOW many think they are entiteled to XYZ. They are NOT. Someone elses entitlement becomes MY BURDEN, I won't be a slave to anyone's wants or needs. It won't work unless universal poverty is your goal. Working hard was never enough, you have to be productive , become difficult to replace, god forbid even creative and take risks! You can work hard going in circles or attepting to compete with machines, or by doing a job that a kid can learn in a day....all recipies for poverty.

@darkwoodmovies If you can afford to fritter away $300/night very often, then you can afford to invest, make your money work for you and become financially independent....eventually work only if you want to. Takes time and effort but anyone can do it. Just something to consider.

@darkwoodmovies NOT saving means living poor and working for the rest of your life. Living hand to mouth is expensive! And it's out of control, it's where the term 'rat race' comes from.
