Nonsense. They have Teslas in the recommended list after the early deliveries high rate of innitial defects comes down as reported by customers.

@hddun Honda and Toy produced the most reliable utilitarian vehicles of all time. Do you suppose that had something to do with it? And when were the Takata airbags recalled??...10 or 15 yr.s after car was sold? I'm not sure they follow through on cars that old. Did they report the same for BMW and all the other brands that also had airbag recalls?

@hddun Anecdotes aside yes H. and Toy. set the reliability bar, prior to some crappy auto transmissions, etc. I wasn't thinking about trucks but mainly econoboxes...utilitarian. Trucks are only good for two things--off road and hauling a load, most I know use them as such but for most Americans they are grocery getters and simply a fashion statement. Tesla is an entirely different animal altogether, very pleased to have finally gone long TSLA starting early last June after watching the drama from the sidelines for yr.s.

@hddun I'm of similar vintage apparently. A high school friend had access to his mom's early Honda in '78 and it was also remarkable for how quick and efficient it was compared to the garbage out of Detroit. Yeah it was tiny but it sure had it's place. Remember how little we had to choose from back then due to trade barriers to subsidize Detroit largess and laziness? Big 3 was NOT enough competition and still isn't. Very grateful that we have so many good options today. And why not be "proud" of what Japanese or Germans offer, are we so primitive and tribal that we can only be proud of something that originated (if only in design) within some arbitrary borders?

In part but it's also a value proposition, no one so far has seriously challenged them on efficiency, range, performance in general for similar price and that's before you even consider electronics, software, over air updates, AP, charging speed and supercharger network......... Hopefully T. improves it's servicing, interior quality and DIY situation soon.

The BIG BOYS are coming for Tesla (and the Little Boys apparently) and so far it hasn't mattered. The question now is when will Chanos flip and try to gain some of his losses back on the long side. :D
